Baleseng Buzwani
Co-Founder & Managing Director
Profession : Environmental Scientist and Management Auditor
Mr. Baleseng Buzwani, is an environmental management auditor, an ISO14001 expert that holds a Bachelor’s degree that combines both Environmental Science and Demography from the University of Botswana and a High National Diploma from Cape Technikon. He further studied ISO 14001 – Environmental Management Systems and ISO19011 Management Systems Auditor with AFROCARE in 2008. He is a strong waste management specialist with more interest and knowledge in hazardous waste management, including both national and international legislation that regulates the trans-boundary movement of hazardous waste between and among countries. Baleseng worked as the Coordinator of Tshole Trust, an NGO that coordinates companies that deal with used oil management for two years before co-founding and running Champs Botswana in 2008.

Geofrey Khwarae
Co-Founder, Executive Director
Profession : Environmentalist, Natural Resource Management Specialist and EIA Specialist
Mr. Geof Khwarae holds an MSc in Management of Natural Resources and Sustainable Agriculture from the Norwegian University of Life Sciences, which is preceded by a first degree in Environmental Science obtained from the University of Botswana. Geofrey further undertook a series professional training in Project Management, PRINCE 2, Cooperation and Conflict Prevention in Trans-boundary Water Resources, Integrated Water Resources Management; and Promoting Integrity and Accountability in the Water Sector. Geofrey has worked for local and international organizations that include, Kalahari Conservation Society (KCS), UNDP, USAID and Chemonics International Inc. He has worked in Botswana, Angola, Namibia, Zambia, Mozambique and Lesotho. Geofrey is a registered environmental consultant/practitioner under the Botswana Environmental Assessment Practitioners Association (BEAPA). He joined Champs Botswana full time in 2014 as its Executive Director having helped co-found it in 2008.

Mrs. Wazha Magazine
General Manager
Profession : Statistician, Economist and Tax Accountant
Wazha joined Champs Botswana in 2013 and currently serves as the General Manager of the company having started as an administrative accountant and later being promoted to Finance and Accounts Manager. Her role at Champs Botswana includes overseeing day-to-day operations to ensure the successful completion of various company projects for the company. She offers high level support in all company departments tasks including environmental consultancy projects, for issues of risk and compliance management, adherence to waste management standards, regulations and policies for the sustainable operation and development of the business. A key responsibility of the General Manager is to act as an advisor to the Board of Directors.

Wazha holds a Bachelor of Arts Social Science – Double Major Statistics and Economics from the University of Botswana and a Post Graduate Diploma in Taxation from Botswana Accountancy College. She has further completed various short course trainings including Safety, Health and Environment, Project Management and Safe handling of dangerous goods, Process Safety Management Standard, and Project Management. Her knowledge in the waste management and environmental Management space is purely from practice, experience and lessons learnt at Champs Botswana.

Tumelo L. Mosimanyana
Site Manager
Tumelo is Champs botswana Site Manager based in Jwaneng Mine. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Science from the University of Botswana and short course trainings in ISO 14001 at BOBS and Waste Management in Encyclo. He joined Champs Botswana in April 2016 as a site manager at Orapa, Letlhakane, Damtsha Mines and later transferred to Jwaneng Mine. He is responsible mainly for directing hazardous and hydrocarbon waste management operations within the mine, research and development of waste management solutions and successful implementation of newly developed strategic operation plan. He participates in both internal and external audits to assist Jwaneng mine to sustain their ISO 14001:2015 and ISO45001:2018 standard. He has 7 years of experience in the hydrocarbon waste management business and believes in Safety and zero harm to both the environment and employees.
Mpho R. Sampisi
Site Manager
Ms Mpho R Sampisi studied Bachelor`s degree in Social Science from the University of Botswana, double major Statistics and Economics. After joining Champs Botswana in 2016 as a Logistics Procurement Officer, she took an interest in the main operations of the company being hazardous waste management, and enrolled for a certificate level training in Occupational Health and Safety with the University of Cape Town in 2019. She is currently working in the Orapa Letlhakane, Damtsha Mines as well as Lucara as Site Manager for Champs Botswana.

Her responsibilities include research and development of new waste management solutions, successful implementation of developed strategic plans, health and safety, hazardous waste management from preparation, repackaging, loading to transportation for safe disposal. For capacity building and knowledge, she has successfully undergone training with Botswana Bureau of Standards (BOS) in ISO 14001:2015.
Mr. Theophilluss Tinawo Khwarae
Operation Manager
Mr. Theophilluss Khwarae is Champs Botswana’s Operation Manager – Process Engineer based at Champs Botswana’s Pilane Integrated Waste Management Facility. Mr. Khwarae holds a Bachelor’s of Engineering (BEng) honours in Chemical Engineering from the University of Leeds having completed modules including Engineering Plant Designs, Process Control and Thermodynamics, to name a few. Furthermore, Mr. Khwarae Has successfully completed projects involving various hazardous chemicals and technologies including treatment and disposal of hazardous waste, pyrolysis and distillation. Theophilluss has 5 years’ experience in the field of hazardous waste management. Mr. Khwarae is also trained in Dangerous Goods Handling, Asbestos Abatement, Healthcare Waste Management, Project Management as well as Microsoft Project Skills.

His duties among others include site attendants supervision, research and development, process design and optimisation in an effort to improve existing methods by reducing costs and finding better and sustainable ways to manage waste materials that range from industrial (oil, oil sludge, oil contaminated waste, grease, mineral processing effluent sludge, redundant chemicals etc) and medical (clinical and pharmaceutical waste).
Ms Wame Ramontsho
Marketing and Communication Specialist
Ms Wame R Ramontsho is a Marketing and Communication Specialist in Champs Botswana Pty Ltd – Head office, Pilane and she is responsible for planning, managing, controlling and coordinating all marketing and communication activities, tracking and reporting marketing campaign performances, ensuring that all marketing operation are successful in meeting the goals set by management, engaging in various forms and combinations of content creation and public relations activities, implementing communications strategies to promote company services, building long term relations with clients and target audiences and performing tasks related to maintenance and enhancement of the brand awareness. She is a brand voice of the company.

She holds Bachelor of Arts, majoring in Corporate Marketing and Communication from University of Freestate (RSA) and certificate in customer service. She is currently pursuing Post Graduate Diploma in Brand Management and Digital Marketing.
Mr Lame Mosoboloko
Facility Management Coordinator
Lame is a Mechanical engineer with proven and tested technical and problem solving skills in the workplace. He graduated from Botswana International University of Science and Technology in 2019 with a Bachelor`s Degree in Mechanical and Energy Engineering. He also holds certificates for Pneumatics and Electro pneumatics. Lame currently serves as a Facility Management Coordinator in Champs Botswana Pty Ltd Head Office, overseeing Pyrolysis Plant maintenance, Fleet maintenance and management as well as site and facilities maintenance.
Ms Bonakele Buzwani
SHE Officer
Ms Bonakele Buzwani holds a Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety from Boitekanelo College, as well as a certificate in Understanding BOS OHSAS 18001:2007. She joined Champs Botswana in April 2017 as a SHE Officer. Having developed the skills and knowledge necessary to keep employees in the hazardous Waste industry safe and productive, her main duty is ensuring compliance with Occupational Health and Safety, Procedures and advice measures needed to minimize hazards or unhealthy situations on site and to create a safe work environment. Ms Matshidiso Mmapatsi
Admin and Human Resource Officer
Matshidiso is an Admin and Human Resource Officer with four years working in Champs Botswana Pty Ltd. She holds a certificate in Human Resource Management and is currently pursuing Bachelor of Business Administration Degree majoring in Human Resource Management. She is primarily responsible for all front office duties as well as assisting management with the development and implementation of HR and administration policies and procedures to cultivate a conducive work environment for all.
Ms. Gorata E. Phiri
Quality Assurance Officer
Profession: Chemical Engineering

Ms. Gorata Phiri, who is currently serving as a Quality Assurance Officer at Champs Botswana; holds a Bachelor of Engineering in Chemical Engineering from the Botswana International University Of Science And Technology (BIUST). She joined Champs Botswana in August 2021.

Her key roles include ensuring process quality control and optimization, as well as overseeing the supervision and monitoring of operations to ensure compliance to Quality standards, guidelines, policies, procedures, and national regulations; and to drive process improvement. At Champs Botswana, Gorata has successfully completed short course trainings in First Aid level 1 and Asbestos Abatement.

Thabang Milton Barona
Safety Health and Environment Officer
Profession: Occupational Health and Safety
Mr Thabang serves as a Safety Health & Environment Officer in Jwaneng Mine and he joined the company in 2022. His main duties include conducting health and safety audits, identifying potential hazards, risks and dangers and review effectiveness of health and safety measures. He believes that Zero harm to the employees and environment is possible through a collective responsibility of the management, employees and other stakeholders.
Oarata Nthaba
Accounts Officer
Profession: Accountant
Mr Oarata hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting obtained from the University of Botswana and he is currently serving as an Accounts Officer at Champs Botswana. He is responsible for timely recording and bookkeeping of all financial transactions on QuickBooks on day to day basis, maintaining fixed assets registers recording any additions and disposals, assisting in processing of internal departmental financial requests and queries, maintenance of the accounts and all relevant documentation, receiving, capturing and maintenance of client and supplier accounts for accruals and prepayments
